’82 Vice-president of Custom Research

After Vassar, I began work as an editorial intern writing about Lotus 123, a radical new business tool to use on PCs, which was brand new at the time. Later, I joined a hi-tech market research house, which did quantitative studies about the size and growth of new IT and telecom markets. Today I am the Vice President of custom research at Current Analysis Inc. and I can safely say that what was most helpful about the STS program what that it taught me to be able to think critically about technology in society. We are indeed living in a technological society and technology influences so many things in so many ways that it’s important to know that technology isn’t “just there”, but is instead a result of social and economic factors. In my line of work, it’s really helpful to understand that concept.
